The Slovenia and Croatia tour travels through the heart of the Julian Alps and along the exquisite Dalmatian Coast, covering the rich cultural heritage of the northern Adriatic and the ancient Roman influence in the south. This journey highlights the transition from alpine splendor to the sun-drenched islands of the Mediterranean.
The journey begins with arrival in Ljubljana, Slovenia, with a stay at beautiful Lake Bled, where a medieval castle perches on a cliff above the emerald waters. We explore the high alpine vistas of Mt. Vogel and the glacial serenity of Lake Bohinj before visiting the amazing Postojna Cave, a network of 20 kilometers of passages and chambers.
This outstanding tour continues as we cross the Istra Peninsula to explore the hilltop "artist villages" of the interior, including Motovun and Groznjan, striking examples of Venetian colonial architecture. Along the coast, we visit Porec, a 2nd-century BC Roman encampment, the Italian-speaking fishing village of Rovinj, and the Roman ruins of Pula.
In Croatia, enjoy an easy walk in the spectacular Plitvice Lakes National Park; visit Zadar, the ancient capital of Dalmatia; and the medieval jewels of Šibenik and Trogir. We reach Split, home to Diocletian’s Palace, one of the most outstanding samples of classical architecture in the world.
A high-speed catamaran takes us to the fascinating islands of Hvar and Korcula, where we walk through narrow stone streets and Renaissance cloisters. After a scenic drive through the vineyards of the Pelješac Peninsula, the journey culminates in the old walled city at the heart of Dubrovnik.
Trip pricing is an estimate based on two (2) participants. Once your dates and the number of people are confirmed, a final firm price is offered.
